Hi crafty peeps!
What exactly is a Kindred Spirit? Well, in my eyes a kindred spirit
is a term that mean someone you feel a connection with, or someone
who understands you. A kindred spirit can share all of your
goals, ambitions and thought processes or they can simply share with you
only one unique quality. They're people that you connect with on a
deeper level than just basic intellectual and emotional interaction.
One would
think that you need to have direct contact with an
individual, right? Well I can tell you for a fact, that direct contact is NOT necessary,
for I have found one such kindred spirit right here in blog land.
Her name is
Brigitte, or as she is more affectionately known here in blog land; Bricolage de Brigitte.
You are all probably asking yourself why I am tell you all this, right?
You are all probably asking yourself why I am tell you all this, right?
Well this
past Friday, Brigitte and I took advantage of a rare opportunity to meet in
person, as she was attending a conference very close to where I live. During
the logistical planning stages, I knew of course that I had to make Brigitte a
special card. After all, that is our first and foremost connection to each other, but trust me when I say we do have many very personal things going on too.
Brigitte
and I are both Canadian, and she is in fact part of our Armed Forces, so I decided
to take advantage of that fact, and Nicecrane Designs had the perfect image for me
to use…
Nicecrane
Designs has a pretty awesome collection of vintage pin-up girls, and I totally
had fun creating this card for Brigitte!
Here is a
close up shot...
I printed
the image onto Neenah cardstock and then coloured it with my Copic markers. Choosing a colour scheme was pretty much made for me, given the fact that the
military is basically limited to earth tones. (LOL)
Shirt/Hat - BG93, 96 G 94
Boots/Gun/Hair - N0, 03, 05,
07, 10
Skin - E0000, 000, 00, 11,
R21, 22
Boxes – E0000, B0000, BG0000
And I used DeconstructingJen sketch #1
I hope you enjoyed my card as much as I
enjoyed the reason behind creating it.
Brigitte, I hope you had a safe flight home, and thanks again for the wonderful evening. I can't believe how fast our evening together went, let alone the fact that we were able to meet face to face.
Cheers, to what I hope will
be a very long friendship!
Jusqu'en notre prochaine rencontre ... (I hope this translates well, my French Canadian Ami)
Thanks for stopping by :) S
